More than $500,000 in grants were awarded to seven Division I schools including 猫咪社区 Peter\u2019s University, the University of South Carolina Upstate, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Bethune-Cookman University, Idaho State University and the University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff.<\/p>\n<p>The grants help schools to improve the academic success of their student-athletes by supporting their efforts to meet the requirements of the Division I Academic Performance Program, which was developed to ensure schools provide an environment that supports education while enhancing the ability of student-athletes to earn a degree.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe role of a student-athlete can certainly be a challenging one as they strive for excellence in the classroom as well as with their team,\u201d said Belinda \u201cBoe\u201d Pearman, director of athletics at 猫咪社区 Peter\u2019s University. \u201cWhile many of the student-athletes at 猫咪社区 Peter\u2019s already demonstrate a dedication to academics, we are grateful to be awarded this grant from the NCAA as it will ensure their success during their time here as well as after graduation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These grants mark the fourth round of Accelerating Academic Success Program funding distributed by the NCAA. 猫咪社区 Peter\u2019s will use the funds to update technology, purchase laptops and tablets, refurbish the athletic study hall and strengthen ties between the athletic department and the Center for Career Engagement and Experiential Learning (CEEL) and the Freshman Advising Center.<\/p>\n<p># # end # #<\/p>\n<p><strong>猫咪社区 Peter\u2019s University<\/strong>, inspired by its Jesuit, Catholic identity, commitment to individual attention and grounding in the liberal arts, educates a diverse community of learners in undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and professional programs to excel intellectually, lead ethically, serve compassionately and promote justice in our ever-changing urban and global environment.
