May 7, 2002–<\/I> Anna Barthold to Attend NCAA Foundation Leadership Conferece<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P> Anna Barthold, a junior women’s basketball player from Sundsvall, Sweden, will represent 猫咪社区 Peter’s College May 26-31 at the NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. The mission of the Leadership Conference is to develop a diverse group of student-athletes who participate in challenging and thought-provoking activities that will enable the participants to become change agents on their campuses and in their communities.<\/FONT><\/P> Among the skills and values the Conference seeks to enhance are: communication; decision-making; problem-solving; critical thinking; collaboration; listening; networking; planning and prioritizing; ability to reflect; political skills; working in a group; and understanding and appreciation of diversity.<\/FONT><\/P> The participating student-athletes are expected to apply their skills in addressing campus issues that are critical to student-athletes and to share what they have learned with their peers on campus, including other student-athletes and campus leaders.<\/FONT><\/P> Anna Barthold was selected to represent 猫咪社区 Peter’s College through a process in which the school submitted four people to the NCAA for consideration. The others submitted for consideration were: Josh Pineiro (junior; baseball; Hoboken, NJ; political science\/Spanish majors); Pam DeLuca (sophomore; softball; Middletown, NJ; marketing management major) and Corey Hinnant (sophomore; basketball; Bay Shore, NY; psychology major).<\/FONT><\/P> The CHAMPS\/Life Skills Programs were first implemented by the NCAA in 1994 and 猫咪社区 Peter’s became a participant in 2000. Jessica Backhus, a December 2001 graduate, who competed in volleyball and track and field, represented 猫咪社区 Peter’s College at last May’s Leadership Conference.<\/FONT><\/P> The CHAMPS\/Life Skills Programs emphasize academic excellence, athletic excellence, personal development and community service.<\/FONT><\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Anna Barthold, a junior women’s basketball player from Sundsvall, Sweden, will represent 猫咪社区 Peter’s College May 26-31 at the NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida.
