Jersey City, N.J. – July 22, 2020 – è������ Peter’s University today announced that Ginger Gold Schnitzer, executive director for the Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership at è������ Peter’s, has been appointed to serve as the director of the master’s program in public administration at the University, which will now be run in conjunction with the Institute.

“In her short time with è������ Peter’s, Ginger has been a dynamo, exceeding our expectations for the Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership,” said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of è������ Peter’s University. “We believe this partnership between the Guarini Institute and the MPA program, under Ginger’s leadership, will provide great synergy to help us reach our goals for both areas.”

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program was designed for professionals who work in or seek high impact careers in government, nonprofit organizations, international institutions and private sector businesses that are dedicated to the public good. Graduates of the 36-credit program will be prepared to analyze data, design new initiatives and programs, develop budgets, manage teams and lead complex organizations.

The Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership was established in 1994 by Congressman Frank Guarini H ’94 and aims to provide a non-partisan forum for discussion of key public policy issues. The Institute sponsors lectures and programs throughout the academic year to promote critical thinking, debate and careers in public service. The Institute is also the home of the university’s award winning Model United Nations Team and serves as host of the è������ Peter’s University High School Model United Nations Conference.

Schnitzer’s roles within the University will facilitate greater engagement within the è������ Peter’s community and will help to promote the missions of both the MPA program and the Guarini Institute.

“Now more than ever, our world needs competent and compassionate public administrators with the skills and ethical grounding to justly work through complex problems in the public, private and non-profit sectors,” said Schnitzer. “I am delighted to be part of a team of professionals and students committed to this purpose.”

Prior to her role at è������ Peter’s University, Schnitzer served as the director of government relations for the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA). Over the span of her 22-year career with the NJEA, Schnitzer helped to shape education policy in New Jersey. She has also served in a number of other public service roles throughout her professional career. In 2008, she was appointed as a member of the United States Electoral College for New Jersey. She also served on the Plainsboro Township Committee for eight years and was president of the Plainsboro Public Library Foundation and vice-chair of the Plainsboro Township Zoning Board. She currently serves as a visiting associate at the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University.

Schnitzer earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Rutgers University, Douglass College; a master’s degree in government administration from University of Pennsylvania, Fels Institute of Government; and a juris doctorate from Villanova University School of Law.
