猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 University Recognized as one of the Most Environmentally Responsible Colleges by The Princeton Review

Jersey City, N.J. 鈥 December 14, 2018 – 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 University today announced that it is one of the most environmentally responsible colleges in the country according to The Princeton Review. The University was included in the 2018 edition of The Princeton Review鈥檚 鈥淕uide to 399 Green Colleges,鈥 which is an annual report that evaluates colleges and universities based on their commitment to the environment and sustainability.

鈥淎 primary way to learn is by example and when it comes to sustainability at 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚, our students have countless ways to learn and lead,鈥 said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 University. 鈥淔rom our infrastructure to our events, academic programs and student clubs, there is a way for every member of the 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 community to get involved in sustainability efforts.鈥

According to Robert Franek, editor-in-chief of The Princeton Review, college applicants and their parents are increasingly concerned about the environment and sustainability issues. The Princeton Review surveyed nearly 11,000 teens and parents earlier this year for its 2018 “College Hopes & Worries Survey,” and among those surveyed, 63 percent overall said having information about a college’s commitment to the environment would influence their decision to apply to or attend the school.

鈥淭o all students wanting to study and live at a green college, we strongly recommend the outstanding schools we identify and profile in this guide.鈥 said Franek.

The University has taken many steps toward sustainability on campus and beyond. 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 has installed solar panels; energy efficient lighting; a co-generation plant with a Green Energy Command Center dedicated to controlling the University鈥檚 use of energy and reducing its carbon footprint as well as indoor and outdoor receptacles for recycling. The University鈥檚 Mac Mahon Student Center was also constructed to be a LEED Silver-certified building.

猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 has implemented a Sustainability Council to promote sustainable practices and also offers sustainability-oriented student groups such as SAVE: Students Against Violating the Earth and Junk Yard Dogs. Students are also able to tailor their studies for an environmental focus through academic programs such as the major in environmental science, and the major in biology with a concentration in environmental science.

The University has been recognized as a Gold Level Smart Workplace by the Hudson County Transportation Management Association and is also the recipient of the Garden State Greenfest Award and the Green Campus Project award from the Independent College Fund of New Jersey for 2018-19.
