The Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership Welcomes Senator Cory Booker

Following a dramatic week in Washington D.C., United States Senator Cory Booker made his way to Hudson County to launch his 鈥2017 Jersey Summer Road Trip.鈥 The Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership at 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 University welcomed Senator Booker to the University for the first stop on his annual tour of New Jersey鈥檚 21 counties. The event was a public discussion moderated by Max Pizzaro, co-founder of Insider NJ.

Senator Booker began the discussion by recognizing Congressman Frank Guarini H 鈥94 who established The Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership at 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 University in 1994. The Institute aims to provide a non-partisan forum for discussion of key public policy issues. Some of the topics discussed between Senator Booker and Pizzaro included healthcare in New Jersey, the criminal justice system and political media coverage.

Senator Booker stressed the importance of government leaders working together regardless of their political party, 鈥淭he power is in the Senate to come up with some excellent fixes to address the things that are hurting Americans, but we can鈥檛 let our politics trump our passion for people, policies and principle.鈥

Senator Booker ended the conversation by reflecting on a question he is often asked about how he would like to be remembered. 鈥淚 am sure that 200 years from now our names will be a forgotten history, but I think the goodness that we did while we were here will still be influencing the world to come.鈥
