Alumni and Friends Return to Amanda’s to Support the Jesuit Mission

The sounds of clinking wine glasses and the chatter of conversation filled Amanda鈥檚 Restaurant in Hoboken on June 15 as alumni and friends gathered for one shared reason: to support St. Aedan鈥檚: The 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 University Church and Schola, the University鈥檚 liturgical choral group.

That evening, more than 90 people attended the annual wine and dinner pairing fundraiser at Amanda鈥檚, which is owned by Eugene Flinn 鈥80 and his wife, Joyce Flinn. Between their shared affinity for the University and the impact 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 has and continues to make on Flinn, the couple has made it a tradition for the event to be held at their restaurant each year.

鈥淲e are thrilled that our annual event at Amanda鈥檚 continues to be a great success with an excellent turnout of alumni and friends,鈥 said Gloria Mercurio, executive director of alumni engagement. 鈥淲e are grateful for the generosity of our hosts, Eugene and Joyce Flinn.鈥

Attendees enjoyed five-course dinner and wine pairing in addition to a silent auction. Folks were then treated to a rendition of 鈥淗allelujah鈥 by Director of Liturgical Music Joseph Legaspi and three members of Schola: Katherine Angeles 鈥17, Mary Zeoli 鈥15 and Amanda DiMauro 鈥15. Mike Milano 鈥74, 鈥91 and Carmel Galasso 鈥79 ended the night with the tradition of singing 鈥淚o Pavo,鈥 the University鈥檚 fight song.

By the end of the night, more than $17,000 was raised 鈥 all of which will go toward programming and operating costs for St. Aedan鈥檚: The 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 University Church in addition to supporting Schola.

鈥淭his event gives everyone an opportunity to enjoy a delightful evening at a fine restaurant while supporting 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 mission and identity,鈥 added Mercurio.
