SAINT PETER鈥橲 COLLEGE ART GALLERY WILL HOST
鈥淥RIENTALISTS鈥 EXHIBIT BEGINNING ON APRIL 10

 

April 4, 2003— Jersey City, NJ-鈥 The 猫咪社区 Peter鈥檚 College Art Galley, located in the College鈥檚 O鈥橳oole Library, will present an exhibit entitled 鈥淥rientalists鈥 from April 10-30.  The exhibit will feature many important artists including Jean-Leon Gerome, Paul Flandrin, Eugene-Francois Deveria, Robert Edward Morrison ant A. Schreyer.
 
The exhibit will be open to the public daily, with the exception of Sunday, from 11 a.m.-to-4 p.m. It will remain open until 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
 
鈥淭he school of art called Orientalism flourished in the 19th century and showcased the interest Europeans and Americans had in the near and Middle East,鈥 Art Gallery Director Reverend Oscar Magnan, S.J. said. 鈥淒uring that time, artists were inspired by the exoticism of the markets, casbahs and harems as well as by the mysteries of the Arab world..鈥
